Chicago Wins Aurora Invitational

AURORA, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's cross country team led the field at the 15-team Aurora University Spartan Classic Friday afternoon.

Junior Billy Whitmore (Rocky River, Ohio/ St. Ignatius) led five Maroons among the top eight individuals with an eight-kilometer time of 25:17.

Senior Moe Bahrani (Vernon Hills, Ill./ Vernon Hills), freshman Renat Zalov (Buffalo Grove, Ill./ Phillips Academy Andover), and junior Isaac Dalke (Portland, Ore./ Lincoln) placed fourth (25:53), fifth (26:02), and sixth (26:09), respectively, while sophomore Daniel Povitsky (Akron, Ohio/ Revere) crossed the line in eighth place (26:15) among 182 runners.

Chicago travels to Illinois State University in Bloomington next Friday, Sept. 16, to participate in the Illinois Intercollegiate Invitational.
