CHICAGO -- The 17th-ranked University of Chicago men's cross country team placed sixth among 48 teams representing all NCAA and NAIA Divisions at the Loyola University Lakefront Invitational Saturday at Montrose Harbor.
Junior Billy Whitmore (Rocky River, Ohio/ St. Ignatius) (pictured) was the Maroons' top finisher, as he captured seventh place among 539 competitors with an eight-kilometer time of 24:59.
Senior Mahmoud Bahrani (Vernon Hills, Ill./ Vernon Hills) and junior Isaac Dalke (Portland, Ore./ Lincoln) clocked respective times of 26:02 and 26:05 to capture 42nd and 46th place.
The University of St. Thomas' Ben Sathre led the field with a winning time of 24:30.
The University of Toledo won the meet with 55 points. Chicago led the way among the eight Division III teams in the field.
The Maroons return to action in two weeks at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational. UW-Oshkosh is the site of the NCAA Division III Championship meet.
