Women's Cross Country Finishes 11th at Loyola Invite

CHICAGO -- The 34th-ranked University of Chicago women's cross country team placed 11th out of 45 teams representing all NCAA and NAIA Divisions at the Loyola University Lakefront Invitational Saturday at Montrose Harbor.

Senior Rachel Ohman (Solana Beach, Calif./ Torrey Pines) (pictured, right) was the Maroons' top finisher, as she captured 35th place among 538 competitors with a five-kilometer time of 18:31.

Sophomores Elise Wummer (Castro Valley, Calif./ Castro Valley) and junior Michaela Whitelaw (Swarthmore, Pa./ Strath Haven) (pictured, center) clocked respective times of 18:53 and 18:56 to capture 65th and 72nd place.

The University of Toronto's Tamara Jewett led the field with a winning time of 17:08.

The University of Iowa won the meet. Chicago placed second among the nine Division III teams in the field.

The Maroons return to action in two weeks at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational. UW-Oshkosh is the site of the NCAA Division III Championship meet.
